Kathleen Kirk Stoves is a working artist living in Mobile, Alabama. Originally from South Jersey, she moved to Mobile after being accepted to Spring Hill College. There, she earned a degree in Studio Art, focusing in oil painting.
Since college, Kathleen has maintained an active studio while contributing to the growth and stability of the art community in Mobile. She has taught classes to both adults and children for Eastern Shore Art Center, Alabama Contemporary Art Center, and Mobile Arts Council. She was also delighted to work directly with the arts community through her position as Assistant Program Coordinator for Mobile Arts Council. Kathleen has had three public art pieces in Downtown Mobile, and has contributed to another public piece through her work with the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Alabama. In July 2020, Kathleen finished her largest outdoor mural to date at Central Presbyterian Church. Soon after, she was hired for two more murals to be completed across the street at The Alabama School of Math and Science. You can see all three of these large scale murals at the corner of Dauphin and Ann Street, just outside downtown Mobile.
Kathleen left her job at MAC after the birth of her son, Theo. She now has two boys (hey Louie!) who keep her busy, but she still finds time to create in her studio in Midtown Mobile.
